Marilyn Robinson Irvin, CFA
Multi-Unit Packaging

Unlike most Atlantians, Marilyn was not only born in Atlanta but grew up in Ellenwood a suburb of the south metro Atlanta area. Her father Emory owned and operated an apparel manufacturing business on Cain Street, now known as International Boulevard. She attended Georgia State University and received her undergraduate degree in business with a major in Accounting. Marilyn worked for several years as an accountant in the hospital industry for both profit and non-profit hospitals. She left the hospital industry to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Virginia.

During her stay in Virginia, Marilyn developed her taste for investments while working for Consolidated Healthcare the holding company of BCBS of VA. She traded and assisted in the management of the company’s internal operating fund. After completing her first five million dollar trade she knew this was the “real world” and was hooked. She decided to return to Atlanta and attended graduate school at Georgia State. This time she received her Master’s of Science degree majoring in Investments.

Marilyn went to work for Atlanta Capital Management out of graduate school. She worked her way up from Quantitative Analyst to Senior Portfolio Manager during her 20 year career there. While working for ACM Marilyn passed the Chartered Financial Analyst Exam of the CFA Institute headquartered in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her volunteer effort with CFAI began in 1994 and continues today. These efforts include grading the exam each year, working on the Council of Examiners which is responsible for writing the exam and the Disciplinary Review Committee which enforces the Code and Standard of the Institute. She also had the honor of chairing both of these committees for several years.

Marilyn is newcomer to the restaurant industry and National Restaurant Brokers but feels her accounting and investment background will be an asset to the firm. She lives with her husband Scott and their menagerie of animals in Woodstock, Georgia. Their daughter Lindsey attends Berry College in Rome, Georgia. Lindsey is an accomplished equestrian with hopes of returning to the show ring once she has completed her studies. Her mother’s hopes are that it will be on someone else’s dime.
